When did you start CrossFitting?
I first started CrossFit in 2015.
What made you start?
I started crossfit when I went to a class at Crossfit Tumut when visiting family and was hooked by the challenges and the gym environment. I thought it would be a great way to train that would assist my basketball at the time.
How were you training before CrossFit?
Before CrossFit, I use to train 3 nights a week for basketball and also do some weight training, but no Olympic lifting and very limited gymnastics.
What is your favourite aspect of training at Plus?
The great sense of community and the encouragement given to everyone in the gym throughout sessions.
If you could take one piece of exercise equipment with you to a deserted island, what would it be and why?
The piece of equipment I would take to a deserted island would be a barbell. I could use it to do a range of lifts and movements and also wedge it in a tree for pull-ups and muscle ups.
What other sports have you played or play and at what level?
I have played Rugby League, Basketball and Athletics and represented all three sports at a state level.
What other physical activities, if any, do you do outside of the Box?
Outside of the gym I am a keen mountain bike rider and love hiking through bushland.
What is your favourite movie?
If stranded on a deserted island, which album do you wish you had with you?
If I had to choose one album, it would be Metallica’s ‘Black Album’.
What is your favourite cuisine?
My favourite cuisine is American BBQ. RIBS!!!
What advice would you give to someone new to CrossFit?
My advice to someone new is consistency is they key! Keep turning up, enjoy the process and always seek advice from your coach.
What are your training goals for 2018?
My main training goal for 2018 is to always have fun and to train smarter, map out a course of action and attack it with purpose.
Who inspires you?
My friends and family inspire me everyday, especially my mum who has had setbacks with injuries but is now achieving goals as a masters athlete that she didn’t think were possible due to focus and determination.
