Junior Humans Specialty Coach
- When did you start training at Human Fitness?
I started training at Human Fitness in March 2018 and haven’t looked back ✌
- What made you start?
I had been intrigued by the CrossFit methodology and followed the sport, but I was ready to train with other people who also enjoyed it like I did. Most importantly, I realised I had to be vulnerable and join a Box to discover what my weaknesses were and get proper Coaching.
- How were you training before Human and the CrossFit methodology?
Before Human Fitness, I did some strength and conditioning with friends that we said was “CrossFit inspired”. Because I enjoyed it so much, I spent a lot of time at home by myself with a broomstick and YouTube learning movements.
- What is your favourite aspect of training at Human?
When I see the Human community get excited about others successes, regardless of gender, age, background etc.
- If you could take one piece of exercise equipment with you to a deserted island, what would it be and why?
Nothing beats playing with a heavy barbell, but they don’t sell suitcases for that. A Kettlebell and resistance band would be my ‘go to’, not just because they’re practical, but they provide endless variety- good for general health and longevity of training 👌
- What other sports have you played or play and at what level?
I have played a lot of sport. Dancing, Swimming, Basketball, Tennis, Cricket, OzTag, Touch Football, Soccer, Cross Country, Athletics- Track and Field. I’ve played a range of them from club to state levels. I just love sport.
- What other physical activities, if any, do you do outside of the Box?
I live on 7 acres, so sometimes work around the house keeps me physical. You’ll often find me in a season of Touch or Soccer. Otherwise, I like to walk, it is good for my head.
- What is your favourite movie?
I have probably watched my favourite movie, forgotten it, and re-watched it again without knowing that I have already seen it. My memory for movies is shocking.
- Is stranded on a deserted island, which album do you wish you had with you?
My music interest is so varied and dependant on my mood. I would have to compile my own playlist of country-indie-folk-rock-rap-RNB-pop. The only albums I’ve been able to listen to all the way through and enjoy each track are Boy and Bear- Moonfire and The Amity Affliction- Misery.
- What is your favourite cuisine?
Is meat a cuisine?
- What advice would you give to someone new to Human and the CrossFit methodology?
Just start. I waited years to even try a CrossFit specific facility because I thought I had to be ‘ready’. We all know what life is like, you will never be ‘ready’.
- Your WHY?
I have spent years trying to nail this down, because I believe it is essential to do so. I’m not there yet.
- Who inspires you?
Kids, for their courage and ability to think outside the box. They provide those of us in the adult world with a wake up call.
- Favourite quote?
“Little by little, a little becomes a lot” – Justin Su’a, Performance Psychology Coach
